"The mere remembrance of Dr. Mrs. Kamala Mair, Principal of D.A.V. College, Yamunanagar, brings into my mind the famous lines of Browning's poem My Last Duchess wherein the Duke complimenting the painter remarks:

'That's my last Duchess painted on the wall,
Looking as if she were alive. I call
That piece a wonder' "

23 Years Later...

Last year, 22 years after my dear mother’s death in India, I picked up the strength to embark on an intense emotional journey of going through a trunkful of her writings, which I had gathered hurriedly and brought with me to the U.S., where I live. She had shared some of her poems with family and friends, which she had written and published into two little booklets during her old age. Now as I started organizing the folders and diaries, and piecing together loose sheets and scraps, it dawned on me that I was sitting on a treasure trove of beautiful poems, Bhajans, short stories, and spiritual thoughts, which she had penned mostly during the last four years of her life (from age 76-80), and not yet shared with anyone. So, with encouragement from some friends and blessings of the Higher Power, here I am presenting some poems and writings by my mother, the late Dr. Kamala Mair.
