Poems and Bhajans by Dr. Kamala Mair
After retiring as the Principal of D.A.V. College for Girls, Yamunnanagar, Haryana, Dr. Kamala Mair dedicated her life to Arya Samaj, women's empowerment, and "Bhakti" based on Vedic philosophy. Her insatiable quest for knowledge and wisdom, incessant desire to lead a meaningful life, and passion for reading and writing culminated in an ensemble of poems and thoughts that she penned, some of which she published in two booklets, Yaachna (1994) and Vandana (1997). Many more are discovered now tucked into folders, diaries, and scraps, 22 years after her death. The poems, mostly devotional in essence, and immersed in deep reflections, are sprinkled with love for music and nature, and have a constant yearning for an ideal life of compassion, kindness, gratitude, and strong faith, and ultimately being one with the Creator.
लेखिका द्वारा (Writer's note about the first booklet, Yaachna)
अध्ययन एवं लेखन का मेरा व्यसन बहुत पुराना है। अध्यापन काल में पी. एच. डी. के लिए प्रबंध लिखने के पश्चात भी लिखने का व्यसन बना रहा। समय-समय पर कुछ लेख पत्रिकाओं में छपते भी रहे। सेवा निवृत्त होने के पश्चात आर्य समाज की गतिविधियों में रुझान गहरा होने पर एवं आयु-वृद्धि होने के साथ-साथ अपने पूज्य स्वर्गीय माता पिता द्वारा मेरे ह्रदय में रोपित आध्यात्मिक पौधे को पनपने के लिए अनुकूल समय और वातावरण मिला। किन्तु रचनाओं को पुस्तक का रूप देने का निष्चय अभी हाल में ही हुआ। फलस्वरूप प्रस्तुत स्वरचित गीतों/भजनों की लघु पुस्तिका पाठकों के हाथों में देने पर मुझे हर्ष का अनुभव हो रहा है। अनंत, असीम, सत्प्रेरक उस प्रभु के प्रति ह्रदय का समस्त आभार अर्पित है जिनकी अनुकम्पा से इस पुनीत कार्य में अग्रसर हुई हूँ।
